Competition Details
As many of you know, there is a town/city competition being held. Up until now, the only undecided detail has been the closing date. As many towns seem, for the most part, quite incomplete, the closing date for the competition will be the Monday, 9th of January, 2012. I understand people may go away for Christmas and/or New Years, so there is some time afterwards.

Towns
The competition ends on the 23th of this month. I am sure some of you are wondering what would give your town a good chance. I have listed below some general tips, not necessarily about how to build good buildings, but rather, what sort of things would give your town a good chance.
1. Use stairs and steps/slabs. When inspecting your town, I should not have to jump AT ALL to get from place to place.
2. Paths. Any building of significance needs to have a path to it that is distinct from the land surrounding it. That means that paths can be almost any material, as long as it is clearly a path design.
3. Towers and tall buildings are great ways for me to look across your town. I will not fly when inspecting your town, so if you want me to appreciate the whole area, make sure you have some nice-looking high places from where I can do so.
4. I will judge only one region. Sub-regions within the main region will be judged appropriately. The region you refer me to should be the same as the name of the town you run.
5. Consider please the type of town you are running. Are its focuses based around trading, fishing, royalty, military might, defensiveness, mining, social usage, farming, learning and study, or religiousness? Or perhaps something else?
6. Avoid “mono-boxes”. Mono means one, so a box made out of one material will get no praise from me unless it is well-done and suitable. Use varying materials, and avoid plain box shapes. Look at actual medieval buildings for inspiration.
I am sure some are also wondering about the entry process. Basically, I will supply a form that entering mayors/barons/dukes will fill out. I will inspect only towns and cities that have supplied the form on the forum. The form will be available shortly before the 23rd of January.
Once you have filled out and posted the form, I will inspect all towns entered, and will inspect each town and city one by one with any spare time I get. I will perform inspections alone and unaccompanied. I will only go by what I see, and will not ask other members or admins for opinions or information.

You should see something like this at the bottom: Bounds: (xx,0,xxx) (yy,127,yyy). Subtract xx from yy, or whichever is highest, and subtract xxx from yyy, or whichever is highest. You should get two numbers which are the width and length of your town’s region.
