mob grinders/traps
im considering banning mob grinders. there are several reasons for this:
this topic is up for discussion. address these issues as you see fit
- only "proper" grinders or traps will be banned. these are types where the mobs spawned are taken away from the mob spawner, thus tricking the spawner into thinking it hasnt spawned many mobs. the spawner then spawns more, which are taken away, and the cycle continues.
- these types can generate over a hundred mobs if left unmonitored/abused. this causes an unnecessary amount of server traffic. if an admin is not online to /butcher the mobs if they get out of control, and the person using it dies or something goes wrong, it puts unnecessary weight on the server.
- there is no actual NEED to use such a machine.
- with more high level enchantments around, their value decreases because their availability is increased. banning mob grinders would benefit the market in this regard.
- these grinders and traps are, in essence, factories of mass production. i am against this in principle and i view it as exploitative, elitist, easy, and other adjectives starting with 'e'.

this could potentially open up a new class for players; if these traps do get banned, then a player of the rank mayor or above could assign an alchemist to the town/city. this alchemist could be partially exempt from this ban by allowing them to make slow, non-automatic grinders and being the only ones to be granted access to them.

I think this is a good idea and it stops "certain" people from accumlating alot of xp and therefore creative high level enchantments which usually would take a very ver long time to get.Thus making the value of these items lower like treijim said. I am for banning this entirely.

I think its a good idea, but i would leave open dungeons as "legit" killing zones.
What I mean by open dungeons is a spawner in a room where you have to kill mobs inside.
Even with diamond armour you can still die if you get swarmed. This means you have to use more of your resources so you don't die and would take many hours of killing to get the xp you want.

yeah, im only considering banning actual grinders, which work by drawing mobs away from spawners so they spawn an indefinate number of mobs instead of being limited to just a few
