Server Stability and Latency Empty Server Stability and Latency

Hello Minecraftians!

This morning (Nov 10th at ~8am US-EST) I resolved a long standing issue you were all experiencing, lag. I discovered that the VM master host had a service that was running at 100% CPU which seems to be the primary cause of the excessive latency. I have disabled the service as I deemed it to not be 75% necessary. It is likely this service will be reactivated in the future, after I work on tuning it better (and I will make sure this happens during the Australian night so you don't experience the latency).

In addition I will begin work on a monitoring system to put into place to notify the proper administration (either the master admin <this guy> or the minecraft admins <panda, and trei> depending on the critical nature of the issue.

In other news, I do apologize about the occasional TCP connection disruptions (where connections are randomly dropped for no reason). I will continue to look into this and diagnose what is causing this. If I can't identify an issue with the master host or with the VM that runs Minecraft, I will be in touch with my data-center people to work on resolving this issue.

Thank you all for your patience!
Charles "Sparticvs" Timko

--- UPDATE ---
After looking at the IPTable rules that my audit scripts have created, the issue with dropped connections might be due to poorly designed rules. I will be working on a new list of rules, but I don't foresee their deployment for atleast a week (I build the rules and then test them against all the traffic I expect to see).

Probably is how that is spelled, but chrome freaked out and it didn't have a suggestion.
