change of classes

Post  Treijim on Thu Apr 05, 2012 8:10 am

im considering splitting the mayor class into two and removing the warrior class. warriors have the least use in terms of special priviledges, and mayors are one of the most popular classes. there could be a lower mayor class, such as village elder, or simply elder, who runs a village. the elder can ask about becoming a mayor once their town is large/good/old enough. what do people think?

Along with:
Elders don't get as many privileges as mayors.

I like this idea!

not sure about that. everything a mayor can do is necessary to run a town of any size

Well, I've seen some cases where people only try and become mayors for the only purpose of purchasing diamonds from the bank.
Though, I suppose it is better than hackers.

EDIT: Though, it would be better if only Elders got the essentials; Changing peoples ranks and etc, and Mayors got the commodities. Which, right now, is Title and ability to buy diamonds.

If you had the Upper class mayor running the village could you also have another Lower Class Mayor As like a second in command?

that wouldnt reduce the number of mayors, which is the whole reason behind introducing the elder class

Maybe give warriors a reason other then fighting , maybe they could buy enchanted swords and enchanted armour for a 50% discount

ChestShop does not support enchanted items. As far as I know, they do not intend on supporting enchanted items. If we keep the warrior class, we will not add the elder class. Are you suggesting we keep the existing class system the same?

I'm in for removing the warrior class and introducing the elder class but are you able to not give them the commands of a Mayor. Such as /region info (town name) or /region addmember (town name) (username)??

Is this a valid point I am making?

OKDOK, that just means you will have a useless member in a town, which has nothing to do except be called old. I believe they should have /region addmember /removemember/info and that. but i don't know :3

Instead of getting rid of warriors we should make them more worthwhile. Maybe they could sell loot from monsters at spawn, things like gunpowder, bones, spider eyes etc. Is this a good idea?

that doesnt address the issue of there being too many mayors, though. replacing warriors with elders kills two birds with one stone

i have an idea what elders could do.

Mayors buy diamonds, elders can buy bottle of enchanting (or something else valuable) instead.

Elders have the same town commands as mayors (such as /region info etc.)

this means people who are currently mayors have a choice. if they want diamonds they can remain a mayor, if they want XP they can become an elder

is this a good solution?

Eh... I think most people would stay with Diamonds...
I say we slowly assess all Mayors and decide whether or not they should stay mayors.

potions of enchanting are stupiid, and treijim hasn't done a texture for them because there is no use therefore using them would be a waste, and i don't think treijim wants people to use them.

when i said they could buy bottle of enchanting i meant it as a way of buying XP. And XP is nowhere near as valuable as diamonds anyway. it was a dumb idea
